Modified Mountain Ingenuity

Unfortunately, Dad has been in the hospital the last couple of days. We are not sure how long he will be here, but we are hoping that it won’t be too much longer. All prayers appreciated.

Now, his room has been chilly, chilly, chilly. I looked around for the thermostat, and it was set on 90 degrees. Obviously, the thermostat is either broken or not controlled by individual rooms.

Well, I hated giving up a blanket, but thought if I laid a quadruple folded blanket over the AC vent, it might block some of the arctic air. It worked pretty well. I think it was worth giving up a blanket for it!

Blanket covered AC vent; kind of like newspaper on the walls to insulate against the cold!

In, the morning, Alex dropped Mom off at the hospital and she brought in water bottles and a Fairlife protein drink. She was worried about not being able to put the protein drink in a fridge, but there isn’t one in the family room for us to use.

I must’ve channeled some mountain ingenuity because I figured that our blanket covered vent might just become our springhouse. I laid the Fairlife, water bottles, and juice, and jello from Dad’s clear liquids diet tray, on top of the vent and tucked them in using the blanket.

                 Our springhouse just a’chilling!

When Mom wanted her protein drink it was chilled and we have cold water. Our makeshift springhouse is working well.

So, I’m thinking that some of our folks up yonder may be looking down, appreciating that their descendants are thinking of them as they use their modified newspaper insulation and springhouse!

Thanks God for our wise forebears. At least a tiny bit of their ingenuity has trickled down through the generations. May it continue to trickle, just as the waters of Anglin Branch continue to trickle all the way into the ocean!
